Like, Hobbits could sneak away without the invisibility. And those that he can trust (Strider and the Hobbits) "are too dear to him." So after winning this huge psychological and psychedelic battle with Sauron by taking the Ring off, he decides to push on to Mordor by himself, and to sneak off from the rest of the Fellowship he has to. After seeing Boromir, he is deeply afraid of the Ring corrupting any of his other companions. ![]() BUTįrodo decides to leave the Fellowship. "įrodo made a conscious decision to oppose the Ring. He was kneeling in clear sunlight before the high seat. Suddenly he was aware of himself again, Frodo, neither the Voice nor the Eye: free to choose, and with one remaining instant in which to do so. For a moment, perfectly balanced between their piercing points, he weighed, tormented. Then as a flash from some other point of power there came to his mind another thought: Take it off! Take it off! The Eye almost sees Frodo and Frodo calls out: He sees Sauron's forces coalescing, Elves, wolves, and Men pouring forth in all directions for war. He sees all of Middle Earth like it were a table before him. ![]() He pops on the Ring and trips massive balls. This is Frodo's first real battle with Sauron. Boromir has a crack at the Ring and Frodo has to slip it on to escape. It's a massive moment when he departs the Fellowship. There are other Tolkien-themed subreddits out there!
